A New Beginning

Dear Friend,

We would like to share some exciting news about the new name of our organization – Youth EmpowerHouse, Corp. – and our future plans.

For over 105 years, Girls Incorporated of Greater Haverhill has supported young women ages 5-13 in the Greater Haverhill community.  Through mentoring, guidance and girl-centered programming, we have helped generations of young women develop self-esteem, life skills and independence – and we have watched with pride as they matured into self –sufficient, responsible citizens in our community.

In recent years, however, we have observed changing needs and challenges.  Demand for single sex programming has declined and key funders have let us know that future funding will depend on depend on innovation, diversification, and inclusive programming addressing unmet needs in the broader community.

Our new name and future programming are the product of a multi-year strategic planning process through which we determined that we could best serve young women in Greater Haverhill by expanding our vision to include their families and the community in which they live.

Youth EmpowerHouse will continue to honor our tradition of girl-centered programming while adding new services and programs in order to provide a safe harbor where all children ages 6 through 18 can develop into resilient individuals with challenging careers.   Our organization is   and will continue to be  a place where children want to be, tell their friends about, and convince their parents that they need to be.  We are – and will continue be – vigorous advocates, focusing attention on the special needs of children in the community we serve; and which the community, in turn, is committed to support.

Very truly yours,
Robin Whitson, Executive Director
